What is a family tree chart?
A family tree chart is a diagram that shows how people in a family are related—usually across generations. It can include living and deceased relatives, partners, and children, and it can focus on ancestors above you or descendants below an elder.
Unlike a freehand poster, an online family tree maker should keep those links editable. When you add a sibling or correct a parent, the chart should update from the data—not from a pile of disconnected shapes.
